AST is governed by two 9-member boards: The Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors. The Board of Trustees is the highest authority and is the sole owner of the school. The U.S. Ambassador serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Both boards are composed of representatives from the U.S. Embassy and the eight founding companies, ConocoPhillips, Halliburton, Schlumberger, Chevron, Marathon, Hess, Repsol, and Oxy. The Board of Directors also welcomed representatives this year from Odebrecht and Aecom.
The Board of Trustees meets several times a year and has the responsibility of envisioning AST's future direction and of ensuring the financial health of our school.
The Board of Directors meets monthly and works to develop a yearly budget, to set policy, to work with and oversee the Director, and to ensure community relations.
