AST seeks to meet the needs of qualified expatriate children residing in Tripoli. Our purpose is not to teach English, but rather to teach challenging courses IN English. In order to be admitted students in grades 1 and 2 need to have some understanding of spoken English. Students must demonstrate an English language proficiency in grades 3 – 5 that would allow them to be successful in their classes. Testing may be necessary to determine admissions.

AST does not have a support program to serve students with special learning issues.

Applicants to AST must submit the following before being considered for admission:

1. Application for Admission - completed and signed by parent or guardian, with one photograph of the student attached.

2. Official School Transcripts/Records for at least the past two years. In a case where records are not in English, an official translation must also be submitted. An official copy of the School Transcripts/Records must be received before admission can be granted.

3. A non-refundable Application fee of $300. (cash only please)

Upon receipt of the above, the student’s records will be assessed by the school’s Admissions Committee. An assessment text may be required prior to a decision regarding admissions.

The American School of Tripoli reserves the right to contact schools previously attended in order to validate records provided and/or inquire about the student(s) in question.

Once an applicant has been accepted to AST, the following must be submitted BEFORE the student may attend classes. There are no exceptions.

1. A copy of the student’s passport and entry visa.
2. Medical Form / Emergency Information sheet.
3. Copy of immunization record.
4. All School Fees must be paid in full in order to attend class, payable in cash or by wire transfer.
