Procedures

Welcome to the American School of Tripoli. We are very pleased that you are interested in our school. To help us ensure that we can meet the needs of any student admitted, the following procedures must be followed before a student is admitted.

ENGLISH:
AST seeks to meet the needs of qualified expatriate children residing in Tripoli. Our purpose is not to teach English, but rather to teach challenging courses IN English. Students in grades 1 and 2 need to have some understanding of spoken English in order to be admitted. Students must demonstrate an English language proficiency of 60% in grades 3 ‐ 5 and 80% proficiency in grades 6 ‐ 10.
SPECIAL NEEDS:
AST does not have a support program to serve students with special learning issues.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Applicants to AST must submit the following:

1. Application for Admission - completed and signed by parent or guardian, with one photograph of the student attached.

2. Official School Transcripts/Records for at least the past two years. In a case where records are not in English, an official translation must also be submitted. An official copy of the School Transcripts/Records must be received before admission can be granted.

3. A non-refundable Application fee of $300. (cash only please)

REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Once an applicant has been accepted to AST, the following must be submitted BEFORE the student may attend classes:
1. A copy of the student’s passport or birth certificate.
2. Medical Form / Emergency Information sheet.
3. Copy of health / immunization record.
4. All School Fees must be paid in full in order to attend class, payable in cash or by wire transfer.
